Zombie Kid Diaries Volume 2: Grossery Games
by
Fred Perry
I
had originally thought the zombie kid series was dead, but I was happy
to see that kids were still going to enjoy this series. There had been a huge controversy and suing over the complete likeness to the Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinley.
And to be honest, the first draft and novel was an exact copy. I even did a review on the first zombie kid here.
In this second novel, Bill Stokes can't wait to go to a gaming championship competition and beat a nemesis of his but a class camp trip and a dog Froufou are in the way. Does Bill make it in time to conquer his rival or will nothing work out for the rotting boy?
Hopefully kids
enjoyed it better than I did. It had its moments in the illustrations
which have changed from the first novel. They are less copy cats and
more "original" than the book Fred Perry is trying to mimic. As for
plot, it fell short and the ending tried to do a cliffhanger to the next
book, it felt forced and out of place. I just wanted to see if this series was something kids may like but I say "nay".
