Monday Mention: Afterlife With Archie #8: A Ghost Story

Afterlife With Archie #8: A Ghost Story (Afterlife With Archie #8)
by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Writer), Francesco Francavilla (Artist)

The spirit of Xmas can't be ruined with zombies! Spirits of the dead have come to say hello as the gang takes refuge in an abandoned hotel. Archie rehashes his journey so far with his old pal Jughead, who we  are sad we didn't get to know much about before his fatal run in with a dog ironically named after a food Jughead loves to eat.

Just one night of "magic" lets this gang see their loved ones again. But with this loving time we learn evil is still roaming and has been for many years in Riverdale. Years ago a deal with witches was struck, sacrifices were to be made. Could this be why zombies have emerged? People should know magic always comes with a price. DUH!

I thought a great background story worked well in letting us tie in Sabrina and Archie and getting to know zombies aren't something new. It did seem kind of random for zombies to start happening so this Archie explains that. I kind of had a GASP moment too. It all makes sense now. I really enjoyed seeing some Jughead. We didn't get to know his character pre-zombie apocalypse.

Merry Christmas to me!!

Holidays are great for surprise presents and when you buy most of them yourself, atleast you know you won't be disappointed with another knife block set.
What you see is the most awesomest Yahtzee game to exist! Found at your local nerd store or even ThinkGeek. I was so happy for this gem!!! ;)
Look how great Gerald looks with my unread undead book collection! Can't even tell there is a great number game inside that handsome head of his.

I went on a random comic shop spree and came across some more items to spend my money on instead of little orphaned children. I got a sweet deal on it all too!! The Walking Dead socks a snagged for $9 CAD and I got a weird series of comics (issues 1-4) about a retriever who kills zombies. Um ya. Awesome!!!! All issues came out to $7.  The HP necklace just happens to be in the pic since I had to Instagram that sh!t. Can't leave my nerd fans out of these great kinds of all kinds.

What did you get this Christmas holiday? Did you reward yourself like I did? Cuz we know we are da bomb.

wait.....da bomb...?? I'm old.

Hope your Boxing Day is zombie free!

Bored? Hate the holidays? Watch this Zombie Christmas song video below.

Silent Night of the Living Dead!

I am so mature you guys!
Everybody loves to have a nativity set out during the holidays. We even had one in my house and we weren't exactly Jesus fans. Nevertheless they spew Christmas and they are quite fun to mess around with.--->

Being a zombie fan the best nativity set would be a zombie one and it looks like a Kickstarter tried to make our dreams come true this holiday. (It failed! CHRISTMAS IS RUINED!!) Still let us take a moment to relish in the awesomeness that could have been.
The gang is all here...well maybe missing a few parts.
We Three Spleens
Shepard boy is doing some major suckage at his job.
Could Mary be the next Daryl?? NEVER!!

Toe to Toe

Just when you thought zombies were scary enough and craving brains, toes now are falling off and coming after you. Undead toes of the discarded walking dead are making their rounds on Etsy for $23.39 CAD. These unique individually made polymer clay toes each have their own distinct personality and are customizable.

"Each Toe is wrapped in "bloody" gauze and shipped in a nondescript box with a signed "care card"." says the creator on Etsy.
Okay now I actually want one of these freaky things. Place them all over my house when guests are over. Like in some jam.....toe.....jam..OH! Create a mistletoe for x-mas. OH that's a classic!

Gorenaments

This Christmas give the gift of horror and decorate your tree with disfigured Gingerbread men and zombie mistletoe. HA! Get it? TOE! Neatoshop is selling these from $9.95-$14.95 individually. I can just go and find a zombie and get his toe and wrap mistletoe around for a much cheaper price. More dangerous but that's how I roll. Make sure you purchase these gorenaments this year!

Bust a nut!

This holiday season spread the infection via nuts with zombie nutcrackers by Monster King Productions. Undead nutcrackers? I want these so badly. Going on my X-mas list!

Everyone seems to forget that X-mas can be made just as creepy as Halloween. If not it is more with an old man that sneaks from house to house eating people's food and leaving presents, not stealing items. Let's get creepy this season!

TWD: Mid Season 4 Finale where Brian ruins X-mas

Last Sunday on:

I'm sure millions of Walking Dead fans were on the end of their seats cursing, crying, and left with sooo many emotions to deal with after last weeks episode. I know I sure was.

Just when everything was settling down at the prison after Carol's burning session (remind me not to cough around her), we learn that the Governor aka Brian is back, or still alive. An episode was dedicated to Brian being stranded and on his own for a long while and then he finds himself a new family to adopt and replace his wife and zombie child. Brian gets them to a new place with some old friends where he ends up killing those because he is a crazy mofo. He then decides it is time to visit some old pals at the prison. This is where the mid season finale comes in.

Since One-Eyed Bri can't have any thing nice or share with others, he gathers his new friends to go after Rick and the prison. He captures Michonne and Santa...er, Hershel, tells Rick to leave the prison, or no one will get to have it. See? Can't play nice.

Well poor Rick tries to work things out but no good enough for Brian and his tank. That is when the guts start flying.

Not only did we lose Santa and the prison, but Brian got punched, stabbed, and then shot. His girlfriend does that after Brian's replacement daughter is bitten. She is better off dead than with a father figure like the Govna.
Too much was lost this episode. Beth and Maggie lose their father and are separated, same with Maggie and Glen, little girls are shooting people more than Carl, the prison is wrecked and infected, and Little Ass Kicker is missing or dead!
While most rejoiced at the death of the asshole Govna, most were shocked and sad for the death of one of the last people with great human morale, kindness, and wisdom. RIP Hershel.
And to conclude this, we have to wait 2 months till we find out what has happened to our prison folk and are left with a pit in our stomach. Christmas will be tough this year to get through, but we can do it. Don't look back.

Zombie Bling

Want to get your lovely lady a little reminder that you love her? A heart necklace too cheesy and unoriginal? Nothing says "I Love You" more than seeing "Zombie" around the neck of your loved one this Christmas.

Gruesome Felt Zombies... or Not

People get me. I might not reciprocate but who cares when you get awesome presents. Way back in Decemeber, I got a zombie felt kit for Christmas. It came with material to make one felt zombie and a book to show you how to do it and make others at another date.

I can clearly see now with the image on the cover and what I ended up with that my zombie boy looks sad. He should be! His eye is falling out. He looks anything but gruesome. Sad little zombie boy.

I thought this project would take like an hour at least. NO! I was wrong. 2 damn hours later...and I messed up. I missed a piece in the process and had to glue it on later instead of being sewn in. There was too much gluing and I didn't have the right kind. That would have been something to provide in the kit I think. And he ended up being so tiny. I thought he would be bigger. Sadness.

Hit the jump for a picture step by step of how I screwed this sucker up.

Happy Holidays!

Zombie Diaries wants to take this time to say thanks for the followers and viewers. Though the fan base is small, it is always good to know there are people out there who support the love of zombies as much as we do here at ZD. This year has been wonderful to us. We have managed to produce a steady flow of postings, a Twitter account with 13 followers (WOOT!), and a joy of spreading zombie fear, I mean cheer. ZD will be on vacay until the new year. Stay tuned for some tweets until then. And again, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Only 6 months behind

SOOOO sorry about this being so late. Been busy with my studies. I'd like to get back in to reviewing books I have read. Unfortunately some of these were read a while back, like this one below, and so they don't flow with what month we are in. For example, this book makes for a wonderful Christmas read.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Zombies by

Take your favorite Christmas carols and change the words to sound so disgusting and funny and you get Spradlin's short book about zombie carols. For example, Rudolph, The Zombie Reindeer Sung to the tune of “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer”
He ate Dasher, then Dancer,
Then Prancer and Vixen.
He downed Comet and Cupid
And Donner and Blitzen.
Yes, he ate them all, the most
Famous undead reindeer of all:
Rudolph, the zombie reindeer,
Caught the virus through his nose.
And if you ever saw him,
You would even say he’s gross.

Good thing I borrowed this ebook from the library. It was very short, but cute! Got a few great laughs out it. Had to play some x-mas music to remember some of the tunes. Some I didn't even know, but Youtube came in handy for that. Loved "I saw Mommy chewing Santa Claus". I like the song so this was wonderful to see in a new light. I'm a huge zombie fan so its nice to read something fun and cute from this genre that won't leave me with haunting nightmares. Because it was so short, I couldn't give this book more than 3 out of 5.

Better late than never...

So...I meant to post this months ago for X-mas, but life was busy. Here is a list of of things you can buy that zombie-lover in your life for x-mas, or even a birthday. HECK! Give them one of these instead of Easter eggs next month. Thanks to Book Chick City for making this list. My number one thing I want to buy is definitely the shoes! I mean those are just so wicked.
