Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse review

If you follow me on Instagram you would know that I was wanting to see this ASAP. I loved the concept of scouts being in charge of saving us because really those with some wilderness or survival background are more likely not to be dead right away when the zombies come.
I decided for my birthday to go and see this film and man it was worth the money and made for a great date movie with my man. Who doesn't like zombie nudity or strippers? If you get the chance to see this film, both sexes are represented in the nudity area. Of course T&A is more dominant when dealing with high school films.
Things I enjoyed about the film:
  • nudity
  • ridiculous situations they get in
  • the first zombie scene in the film with Blake Anderson from Workaholics
  • the character Carter and any scene with Scout Leader Rogers
  • the old lady neighbour played by Cloris Leachman

Things I didn't really like:
  • the "stripper" girl was a bad actor and I felt her role wasn't really needed
  • why do friends always outcast the "bigger" kid and have him portrayed as a big suck?
  • that I was in a theater where young pre-teen boys were with their grandparents
  • there is a weird Britney Spears singing moment that I wasn't sure what to make of
Overall, I'd see it again!

Monday Mention: Zomboy

Zomboy
by Richard Scrimger

Bob and Evil-O have been friends forever and puberty is not the only thing making their friendship questionable. Imre, a new boy in school, catches the eye of Evil-O. Bob finds Imre weird, gross, cold, and just odd. Well he has a good reason to. After a piano falls on Imre and not a scratch is left on him, the school soon finds out Imre is a survivor from some nuclear something or other and now he is a zombie....or rather zomboy. The school becomes a battle ground for protesters to support Imre or get the undead kid out of there and Imre even runs for class president. But something else is going on that Bob is noticing. Imre is keeping a secret. A secret that could wreck the town if it ever got out.

First off Bob is hilarious. He is kind of a coward, accident prone, and pretty honest as well. Bob as the narrator is what makes the novel. Imre is a little strange beside being a zombie boy and Evil-O is just a chillaxin' girl that believes in everyone. She also has an arch nemesis Susan. Their banter is hilarious! The story is intriguing but I was getting skeptical as to where it was all going and then finally in those last chapters you find out Imre's secret and all the testing and the doctors that Imre has been dealing with. Makes a really exciting ending that I actually didn't see coming. By no means did this book feel really childish like some other junior or elementary books. I kept forgetting these characters weren't in high school.

Cooties movie review

So last weekend here in YXE I managed to attend the film festival the night Cooties was playing. I had mentioned in the summer  I was excited to see this film and I am so thankful it played in my city cause this film is DOPE.

mmmm
First off there are a ton of faces we all know and love. Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, and Jack McBrayer, are just to name a few and these actors play teachers having to deal with shitty summer school students who end up getting "cooties" from a defective batch of chicken nuggets. Which I must mention in the scene opener the whole chicken nugget process is shown from the chicken on the farm all the way to the plant and into the mouth of a very hungry child. From here all hell breaks lose as the teachers have to last all day in order to get some help and save themselves and two students. Great thing about this virus is if you have gone through puberty, you don't get turned. YAY for menses!

While the plot was slow to start with and the kid zombies could have been better, the cast in this horror comedy makes the audience laugh and the gives us the satisfying sensation to go out a beat up a shitty child. (No actual children. Just zombie ones).
Doug explaining his weekend

I loved the easter egg dealing with Wood, seeing Wilson with facial hair and being a total douche, and the character Doug, which instantly becomes a favorite as soon as we see him reading a book called "How to Have a Normal Conversation”. This dude is far from normal and his role in the movie just gets stranger and funnier.
The part that got the audience really giggling in the beginning is what I am going to leave you with to enjoy and entice you to go out and see this kick-ass film.

Loving you!

You got that special sweetheart in your life? A bae? I sure do. And there is nothing better than knowing the two of you are so deeply in love and nothing can change that, not even some rotting zombies.  *BARF*...Now that supper has made a visit....

Zombie Lovers Art Print proves that the world somehow romanticizes about killing the undead together and how sweet it is. Well...not so sure about that...What is sweet, is this art just for how cool it looks.

Sometimes life is a drag and I need a little pick me up and mocha or some strong arms aren't going to do that for me. Here are a few things I stumbled across lately. Hope you die laughing or atleast show them pearly whites.

Haaaaave you met Harold?

A simple wine bottle holder from Amazon ($23 CAD) is not only a practical present, but can become an Instagram profile. Meet Harold Zombay.  Believed to be created for more than holding your alcoholic addiction, Harold is looking for a good time and shows it by posting some hilarious pictures.
"I have to look fab for my profile pic.

He also has a "bae" Rupunzel that he likes to stay in shape for and is all in love with, plays Minecraft, and makes some good references to pop culture.

Simple Steps from Shaun

Fan of Shaun of the Dead? Hilarious movie and anything Simon Pegg is in makes me want to watch it.
This simple, trendy "Keep Calm" print comes from Etsy for $12.83 CAD and will make fans smile.

What should also comes as a print (but I have seen as a phone case) is more simple tasks to get done when in Shaun's world of the undead.

NSFW: Zombie...um...Appendage

WOW! REALLY NOT SAFE FOR WORK. This has to be the weirdest of all zombie things I have seen. This site offers "toys" for zombie freaks. Every time I see this my eyes want a good scrubbing. Just read that description! TAKE MY BRAINS! Plz don't go near me with that thing. Who would want an undead fleshy fleshlight that is also available from the same site? Well w/e stops necrophilia.

Zombie Make-Up Tutorial from Pintester!

Pintester and my fav YouTuber, Sonja Foust, did a DIY video back in October for Halloween. It involved TP, a hair dryer, and her famous swearing. Usually she does some drinking as well or setting things on fire in her other videos, "screwing up pins so we don't have to." Thanks! And if you are like WTF is Pinterest then you have been hiding under a rock and it better be a zombie apocalypse where you are. And here is how to blend in with those zombies.

FYI that is how my hair looks everyday.

Jack and Jill Went Up to Kill

Jack and Jill Went Up to Kill

only .99 cents I purchased this ebook and it gave me some pretty decent giggles. I didn't need to listen to a song to get the correct beat or even wonder what kind of song it was. I suggest if people are going to read any of the zombie books he has written that this be the one. The very first rhyme was There Was an Old Zombie Woman Who Lived in a Shoe. Of course she ate those kids. Instantly I knew this little book was going to be good. Very short, but brilliant deliver!

Bros Before Brains: Warm Bodies new moto

Bros Before Brains by *Canadian-Rainwater is the name for this DeviantArt Warm Bodies art work. R and M were great characters in both the book and the movie. Rob Corddry usually is a d*ck but he was pretty lovable in the flick.

Canadian Politicians discuss Zombie Apocalypse

A video was posted on YouTube where Canadian politicians were discussing a zombie apocalypse while in the House of Commons. I love the professionalism of addressing the speaker and how serious the Winnipeg MP Pat Martin was for it. Watch the guys crack up in the background.

It is a serious issue that a zombie invasion could get out of hand and if foreign affairs is doing anything to prevent it getting out of hand. The foreign affairs rebuttals. Must watch the hilarity. Glad to see people have a sense of humor.

Undead

Bobby (a girl I thought was a boy for 3 chapters) is on a school trip at a ski place somewhere in England. The rebel boy, Smitty, is on the bus with her while they wait for their teacher to get back. They watch their classmates laugh and get offered gross carrot juice from a dude in a carrot costume. The bus gets hit, bus driver goes and checks it out (DON'T DO IT!!), and gets hurt. They return to the bus. Alice, the cool, cheerleader girl, pounds on the bus door freaking out that everyone is dead and their teacher tried to bite her. After witnessing the newly zombified teacher themselves, Smitty and Bobby conclude that all their classmates are undead pieces of meat. Question now is to stay on the bus or get away?? But to where??
What I picture Alice would be like (from Moonstone books)

Through various means and several locations later, Smitty, Bobby, and Alice (aka Malice) are joined by Pete, Lily and her little 3 year old brother, Cam. Do they make it safely out of the school trip from hell? I'll let you in on a secret.........just like a horror movie, characters gotta die...read to find out who makes it and who doesn't. MWHAHAHA!

Holy shiznuts as Smitty would say. I'm at a loss of words for how this ended. It was really ominous. I won't go into detail. Don't want to spoil anything. The characters are funny and crazy; the best combination. Loved it all. It had enough zombie and fear mixed in with my kind of humor and sarcasm. Glad it wasn't a love story. It would have been better that Twilight either way.
