Freaks of Nature

Humans. Vampires. Zombies. And aliens??? WHAAAAT! This movie looks hilarious. And did you recognize a lot of those faces? Nicholas Braun, which appears to be playing the main character, first showed up to me in the TV series, 10 Things I Hate About You (not even comparable to the cult classic movie), and I love his quirkiness so I am excited to see him in a leading role with actors such as Dennis Leary, Vanessa HudgensKeegan-Michael Key, Bob Odenkirk(Better Call Saul), Joan Cusack, and Patton Oswalt.
Hoping to watch this movie in the coming week!

Ring a ling a ding dong!

I need a new phone. Mine keeps freezing, programs stop working, I am also still not on a plan so I just do cheap as pay-as-you-go (I literally have WiFi in 80% of the places I go), the camera sucks, and so I have been contemplating when to get one. I'm cheap. I wanna save money. Right now I have a Google Nexus 4 which is my fiancĂ©'s old phone. I know most of you are saying "Get an iPhone!" Well I know they are sleek and awesome but I do like my Android. So before I go and get a new phone, I wanna bask in the great phone case options I have out there for all devices new and old. Let's take a look!

Real Wood Walking Zombie with Plastic Case Cover For Iphone 5s  via Etsy. This case says "I care about all things organic; even rotting corpses."

This one is a toughy. We have some Disney undead princesses, Hello Zombie Kitty, Zombie Eat Fresh (YUM), Keep Calms, the Shaun of the Dead list, Don't Dead (lol), TWD, How To, Period Hands, and a zombie head. Best thing about these are they are those wallet cases combo which I think is GENIUS. Also why I want a new phone so I can have this sweet option. These cases are for all kinds of iphones and even an ipod touch via Etsy for $21 CAD.

Another earth friendly option is bamboo! For the iPhone 6 on Etsy for $34 CAD here is a zombie word collage.

AND if that doesn't get you pumped here is an engraving in wood with THREE wood choices. THREE!!!! Who can choose?! Etsy for 40 smackers CAD.

We gotta have a TWD case with our crush Mr. Dixon. This seller GoDIttoDitto sells this and SO many other cool cases for so many devices.

Etsy
Another wallet style. I like how this one isn't totally "scary" or "creepy", even though I don't give a PLOP about that, but it still supports zombie love.

And finally, for those of you you like to swim, throw, smash, drop and who knows what else, the iPhone LifeProof case in Keep Calm!
Etsy for $13 CAD.

Well that is all folks. Sorry to bombard you with Etsy products too. Just my fav place to look at things. Mostly to only look. Shipping can be a pain in the @$$.

Dementor Wasps

As if cockroaches needed to live anymore and survive anything, a new wasp, the  Ampulex dementor
Dementor wasps inject venom into cockroach prey, right in the belly, rendering it a "passive zombie," according to a new report from the World Wildlife Fund.

Sounds like a shit load of pain! It also causes the cockroaches to be able move but in an uncontrollable way, confusing the roach and making it easy prey for the wasp to come and devour it.

Thanks to Geekologie for keeping me up to date on life's hell on earth.

Monday Mention: Zombie Makers: True Stories of Nature's Undead

WARNING! GROSS IMAGE BELOW

Zombie Makers: True Stories of Nature's Undead
by Rebecca L. Johnson

What's scarier than movie zombies? Knowing they actually exist!!!
Okay. Not like the human kind, but there are many creatures in nature that become mindless, crazed zombies all because of some minuscule parasite.
Read about it all in Zombie Makers
The one parasite that creeped me out the most was the Guinea Worm that actually crawls in humans in Africa after being consumed in contaminated water. These worms can grow up to 3 feet long, looking like spaghetti crawling around inside of you.
They crawl to the leg of the host and lay their eggs there causing a painfully sore blister. Often heading to water to calm the pain (the obey command zombie trait), the worm them crawls out causing the gross cycle all over again. Blech! People actually would get this slowly pulled out over the course of days or even weeks. Breaking the worm could leave you crippled, infection and even death. Sounds like a great time!
So if you want to be grossed out by bugs that turn other creatures into weird zombies then go on and read Zombie Makers.

Puppy Dress Up

If you don't pay attention to my twitter then you won't know why I haven't been the greatest blogger lately. I got a puppy!!! Dexter is taking up all my time being super cute and teething. He noms me to death, likes to pee on the floor, and little humping action happens from time to time. This MinPin is one crazy pup.

Speaking of crazy, dressing up dogs is something people love to do. So if I am to ever do so I better do it with class. A zombie puppy costume for your puppy seems like a little redundant but still looks funny and adorable

If that wasn't enough, the zombie lawn gnomes can inspire a great look for your pooch.

That pooch looks thrilled.

Zombie Horse Mask

So for the last few years buying horse masks has been like a weird fad or meme to do. Super strange in my opinion AND CREEPY. So why not make it more creepy with zombification. And it glows in the dark!

You'll be horsing around in this guy for about $30

February Horror Block

As I have mentioned before, I have subscribed to Nerd Block's Horror Block and this last month was a great theme: Werewolves, Zombies, Vampires! OH M! And with a BITE to it.
Not only did the block come with a book, which will be a new thing every month, it came with 3 things related to zombies.

Frankenstein is the be all of all undead creatures, so having his bride show up on a shirt was pretty rad. I can even wear it to work!

This little guy plushie is what a zombie virus would look like. I've got this weirdly cute guy on my book shelf close to his themed books.

The containment unit I have yet to open. It has a weird little zombie statue in it. The slime glows in the dark but I really don't want to feel the consistency of this stuff. Some poor Blocker on Instagram asked for no more slime since it opened in his box and got all over his things. GROSS!

Looking forward to March Block. Looks like it may be 2 items from The Walking Dead. BTW OMG!!!!! NOAH!!!

When the snow melts

For those of us in the Great White North and prairies, winter is taking a sweet-ass nap and doesn't know when to leave. Kinda like that one friend that always crashes at your place after a night out.
When the snow clears and bunnies and kittens frolic around, so will zombies. Make your lawn zombie friendly with these bad boys.

Both from Amazon, the "Zombie Obama Taking a Selfie But Forgot His Phone" is 7lbs of ankle grabbing awesomeness. Great addition to the pet cemetery you have from your kids' goldfish accidents that keep happening.
"Let there be light" will cast his wizardry ways and guide company up your driveway to be tortured by your wife's ukulele "concert". You'd wish you were undead like these guys after it.

Nerd Block's Horror Block

Before Christmas I kept hearing from friends about getting a monthly little box full of nerd goodies. My friends were mostly subscribing to Loot Crate, an epic monthly subscription box for geeks and gamers for under $30 CAN. You can subscribe for 1, 3, or 6 months. It gets delivered right to your door!
ANYWAYS! I got all excited but before I just threw my money away I came across Nerd Block, the new competition to Loot Crate. And to be honest, I'm loving it.
Nerd Block costs about the same with the same monthly options and a monthly theme or category, but major differences are Nerd Block always has a shirt, a magazine, and there are even 5 different theme choices within Nerd Block.

These are:

  • Horror
  • Arcade
  • Classic
  • Jr boys
  • Jr girls

OF COURSE I choose Horror block and suggest that if you love The Walking Dead, gore, guts, classic horror films, etc, then you need to have this.
So far I have only had one month but what I got was so wicked and what they are hinting at for this month (American Horror Story items and 2 shirts!! EEEEEE!).
Here are a few things I got for the December box:
Frankenstein!!
weird squishy skeleton
HEEEERRE'S JOHNNY!
Um zombie disinfectant

And this was the only little sneak at zombie for this box this month, but I know there has been Walking Dead items and the box itself is a zombie "Don't Open Dead Inside" box.
BOOYAH!

Next time I get anything zombie related I will only post those but I had to share with you zombaes. ;)

Only the best is dead enough

Where was I during 2010? Ah...a poor college student with no social life. It seems Dead Zebra, Inc. had some wicked 19" Lego dudes that were created by the man from Creatures In My Head site (I was addicted to this site for a few years. So trippy!).
Since then the figures are gone but you can still buy a t-shirt. I know....less impressive. Not as impressive as being able to take tall toys and make them do weird things and SnapChat them to your friends. You don't do that?!!
