PPZ gets serious with a trailer

Finally after 6 years of talking, going through directors and cast, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is coming to theater in 2016.
From the trailer we can see they have gotten a bit too serious about being badass respectable young women with killing zombie skills. The novel was always a little bit comical feeling and it has not translated onto screen that way, atleast just from seeing the trailer. The gore as stepped up and is paired with the darkness of plague and unbathed middle class white folk just like the book. I do look forward to seeing some actors in there like
Lena Headey and Lily James.

Photo a Day Challenge rantings

I follow this sweet YA blog called Forever Young Adult on all types of social media and visit their site daily. They some times have these photo a day challenges and it just happens they are having another one for the month of October. All book/Fall/Halloween related.
WTF does this have to do with zombies? Well I will be participating in it with my instagram ZD account @dearzombiediaries and that will be linked to my twitter @ZombieDiaries3 so if you want to follow along and do so, please do. I'm going to try and do everything related to zombies as much as I can while keeping true to me...but just the zombie side of me. I do have a life beyond zombies people!!!! SORRY NOT SORRY.
And since this is a zombie blog where I started off with reading books and doing reviews, seems like this challenge fits into what I am trying to accomplish.
Maybe in the future I could create a challenge.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

Official Beer for The Walking Dead

No more Pil, Molson, MGD, O16, Keith's, Heineken, or whatever other beers* there are (I strictly drink mouthwash; way cheaper) for your sit down drinking game while watching The Walking Dead. Now TWD has this:
Put your hands together for Blood Orange IPA, a pale ale brewed with blood orange peel, with 6.7% and no trace of actual blood.
I guess the Terrapin beer has showed up in the show?? pfft I'm too busy staring at Reedus.

*Can you guess where I live??

The new Pride and Prejudice and Zomies...NOW with a scheduled date!

Back in March (I know I am behind the times), Entertainment Weekly got the dish on the PPZ film coming to the big screen February 2016. Many directors have been bouncing around even though who could resist the classics and some zombies. Burr Steers, director of Charlie St. Cloud, has signed on and let's hope this sticks. Otherwise I am going to get all kung-fu on somebody and it ain't need to be zombies. Dr. Who's Matt Smith, Lily James from Downtown Abby, and OOH! Lena Headey  and Charles Dance from Game of Thrones now has a spot according to IMDB. I can't wait!

My Apologies

So I know I try to be really on the ball with my blog and I used to write it weeks in advance which made it easier to come out on my selected days of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Since I have tried to be more current or have the blog reflect my life and current interests, the set days tend to waver.

Life gets a little busy some times too and I just want to let those of you who do check my blog out regularly to know that I am sorry if my posting has become irregular. No one has said anything but I feel bad myself just not getting things out on time but I trying to be more current and that also means I can't prep too far in advance. I am just happy to write about zombie things when I can, to have great followers, and to have a nice support from family and friends.

A lot of changes have happened in the last year of my life and I am just happy to still have my blog to keep me expressing my interests and nerdiness. I hope you keep coming back and spread the zombie cheer with me!

New postings (yes more than one) tomorrow.

Peace zombaes.

Munchkin Zombies

ne me parlent French
Why isn't this real?! Wait it is? Oh thanks Google.
I've played some good old Munchkin Quest with my nerd friends and I was pumped when I saw this photo on DeviantArt by hadh to have a zombie Munchkin game created . Well thanks to some googling I was embarrassed I hadn't discovered this sooner.

The World of Munchkin has a Zombie spin off! You play the zombies getting you hands on some brains. Your foe? Humans. They want to kill you. GASP! Are you really that shocked.

You stumble about collecting whatever garbage your living brethren have left behind and you use that to save your coconut and to defend yourself.

OKAY who is my new BFF and getting me this?!

Then I demand we have a 12 hour game sesh with alcohol being a must.

NEW JOB!!

Exciting news!!! I switched to another school to work in the library! As much as I loved the kids at my one school (I work at 2), I just couldn't give up the chance to work closer to home. Taking the bus is a pain ( I support Public Transit!!) so being on a shorter route makes me less likely to pout. OH YA! I just did that.
Now I have a whole new crew of kids and staff to infect with zombie love. I've already boosted my one school from having 7 zombie book to 29. I'm making a difference!!! MWAHAHA ....er...I mean....go me. If it gets kid reading, then I am happy.

I'm not a psychopath, I'm undead

This Sherlock tee is now dead at RiptApparel just like Sherlock himself. Even in death, Holmes wants to solve crimes and chase after cluuuuuues instead of braaaaaains. Or both.

PPZ stil being made a film

Since 2009, a movie has been in the talk for the book of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith. A parody of the classic novel Pride and Prejudice features zombies and martial arts-skilled Bennet girls. (see my review here).

It seems the movie is still a go according to news. Filming starts this month (YAY) with Burr Steels, clearing a fan of Zac Efron, being the director.

"Lily James ("Downton Abbey") will play Elizabeth Bennet, Sam Riley ("Maleficent") will play Mr. Darcy, and Bella Heathcote ("Dark Shadows") will play another of the Bennet sisters."
I would rather it have been Natalie Portman (sha-wing), Emma Stone (BOING) and Lily Collins (*pant*) to play Elizabeth as all 3 were once in talk of playing the role. I don't know these actors enough. I don't trust them....BUT sometimes not being too familiar with someone's work means less expectations.

One of Seth's other books was brought to life on film in 2012:
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I was pumped to see it since I knew they would leave out all the details but it was just okay for me. And with a 6/10 on IMDB, it was pretty underwhelming. I like my zombies better so I hope this turns out to be a huge hit.

Will you go and see PPZ?

Summer Bummer

Hey folks! Summer has a arrived and with that comes exciting things in my life. First off, I'm done work for the summer!!! haaha SUCKERS! I'm going to read so much zombie books and work real hard on putting more materials together for my blog.
I'll also be moving. Yes apartment life has its faults of lots of people easily turned into zombies and coming after me. I'm heading to a house where I can properly build my arsenal and fallout shelter complete with private library (I love my books okay?).

With this transition will come no postings on Zombie Diaries for atleast a week, maybe even two. I know....bummer! During this time I hope you're out frolicking in the sun, sipping on a cold one, and practicing your zombie drills but as soon as I post again YOUR ASS IS MINE. You better bow down and become addicted to the internet with me being your ruler!! MWHAHAHA!!

(This plays for a long time.....)

Till we meet again....

CW picks up iZombie

Now I have read all the iZombie comics by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred (look for my reviews on ZD!) and not even a few weeks after reading them I find out CW is making it into a show!

Tinker
Starring the show is "Once Upon A Time" star Rose McIver playing Liv. Why they had to change Gwen's name? Dumb. Oh and if that wasn't great enough they have changed Gwen, er... Liv's job from gravedigger to a student working in coroner's office, eating the brains so she will absorb their memories and use it to solve their murders with her boss and a detective, among other crimes. FUN TIMES! I don't mind that change since it works with the whole detective genre.
this guy

Other familiar faces will be David Anders, also from OUAT and then a bunch of people I'm not sure where they are from.

None of the names of the characters are the same of the comics which always makes me sad when they don't honor the original story in any way.  I also don't know if there are any other supernatural characters like in the comic. Don't disappoint CW!

Let's hope they still include some of the witty, crude humor and it won't become a zombie CSI show.

Uni Offering Zombie Classes

Back in September The University of California Irvine was offering an eight week zombie survival course according to Geekologie.
While the course might be driven by the popular idea of zombies and the use of The Walking Dead, the course sounded pretty legit in a sociology aspect.
From understanding social identities to modeling the spread of disease, this eight-week course will span key science and survival themes using AMC's The Walking Dead as its basis. Four faculty members from the University of California, Irvine will take you on an inter-disciplinary academic journey deep into the world of AMC's The Walking Dead, exploring the following topics:

Maslow's hierarchy of needs--is survival just about being alive?

Social order and structures--from the farm and the prison to Woodbury
Social identity, roles, and stereotyping--as shown through leaders like Rick and the Governor
The role of public health in society--from the CDC to local community organizations
The spread of infectious disease and population modeling--swarm!
The role of energy and momentum in damage control--how can you best protect yourself?
Nutrition in a post-apocalyptic world--are squirrels really good for you?
Managing stress in disaster situations--what's the long-term effect of always sleeping with one eye open?
If this is ever available near my city better believe I will drop making legitimate money and attend this class. Would you?

NEWS

Guess what fellow zombie lovers?! ZD will get a twitter account this weekend! I've been posting on my own twitter feed but 4 votes on the poll said it should have its own. I know 4 isn't much, but it does mean I should listen to my audience, YOU GUYS! If anyone is even out there.......Hello? Hello? *knock on monitor* Anyone out there?
